O Espectro da Rosa

Inspirado no poema de Théophile Gautier “Solève ta paupière close que’ affleure um songe virginal, je suis le spetre de la rose que tu portais hier au bal”, Weber compôs a valsa “Aufforderung zum Tanz” (Convite à dança), dedicando-a à Carolina Brandt, sua noiva.

Em 1841, Hector Berlios transcreveu a peça para orquestra. Como bailado, intitulado “O Espectro da Rosa”, tornou célebre pela interpretação de Karsáwina e Nijinsky; estreou em Monte Carlo no ano 1911 com coreografia de Fokine.

História:

Uma jovem retorna do seu primeiro baile, trazendo, como lembrança, uma rosa vermelha.Ela senta para recordar a feliz festa e começa a dormir. No seu sonho, a rosa adquire forma humana, dança com ela, beija-a e desaparece. Quando a moça acorda, percebe que foi pura ilusão e, decepcionada, esmaga a flor entre seus lábios.

The Specter of the Rose
